Age 91, of Emsworth, on August 3, 2017. Charles W. Cratsley, Jr.; beloved husband of Shirley (Adams) Cratsley; dear father of Charles W. (Lori) Cratsley III, Mary C. (Mark) Yester, and John G. Cratsley; grandfather of Charles W. IV, Benjamin, Kimberly, Hayden, Evan, Ryan, Zachary, and Seth; brother of the late Alice Farmerie; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mr. Cratsley was a decorated WWII Veteran having served in the U.S. Army and the Battle of the Bulge. He earned two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Battle Stars. Mr. Cratsley was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in biology and was employed as a photoengraver for the Pittsburgh Press and then the Post-Gazette. He was an avid fisherman (the trout of Western Pennsylvania are now relieved after his passing), hunter, Steelers fan, talented photographer, painter, carver, musician, soldier, and all together great guy with a great sense of humor. Friends received on Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the MCDONALD-LINN FUNERAL & CREMATION SERVICE, LLC. , 529 California Ave., Avalon, PA 15202. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 154 Orchard Ave., Emsworth, PA 15202, where he was a lifelong member. Private interment will take place in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may offer a Memorial Mass.
