Rose Owens Obituary

Rose Marie Owens (Donovan), age 82 of Ohio Township, went to be with Jesus and her husband, Bob, unexpectedly Wednesday night, February 15, 2023.

Daughter of the late John and Mary Rose Donovan, she lived on Eicher Road and attended St. Benedict  Academy.  She graduated in 1958, taking with her not only a diploma, but friendships that lasted a lifetime. In 1959, she married her husband, the late Robert W. Owens, Sr., sharing their love and growing their family for over 60 years.  The most important job in the world to her was being a dedicated mom and wife.  But to help support the family, in 1978 she went to work full-time for Bently Nevada Corporation for about 15 years as an Office Manager, and even then, she still cleaned the house, washed the clothes, packed lunches, helped with homework, ironed clothes, baked a cake for Bingo Night, and prepared a 4 course dinner for the next day – in the fridge with a note ‘Put in oven at 350 degrees.’ Rosie belonged to the Ohio Township Ladies Auxiliary for over 25 years volunteering her time with the summer carnival, voting polls, and other fundraisers throughout the year.  She was a member of the Avonworth PTA and when she wasn’t cheering on her kids, you could find her working the concession stand.  She made many lifelong friends in the township and school district who will miss her dearly. Her husband worshiped her and together they had 5 children, Robert W., Jr., Ronald, Richard, Kathleen (Joe), and Karen (Chris). Her job as mom and wife extended into her proudest title:  Gram.  She adored her grandkids: Lindsay (Thomas), Laura, Joseph, Ronald, Daniel(Jess), Michael, Nicholas, and Carly. And great-grandchildren: Gianna, Thomas, Sophia, Kyler, Willow, and Noah. Along with her parents, Rose is preceded in death by her siblings, Robert, Thomas (Esther), William (Kathy), and younger sister, Ruth Ann, who died in a car accident at age 18.  Also, brothers-in-law, James Chappel and Donald Owens. She is survived by her loving in-laws, Rita Donovan, Audrey Chappel, Doris Owens, Tom Owens (Linda), and William Owens (Eleanor). Aunt Rosie aka “Aunt Ro” will be missed by many, many nieces and nephews. In time, God will heal our hearts and soften our pain.  Our memories won’t soon be forgotten.
