Stephen C. Strasser (“Steve”), age 71, from Ohio Township, left this world on June 4, 2022 surrounded by family. Steve was born in Toronto, Canada and raised in Shaler Township. He matriculated at Duquesne University and graduated with a Master’s in Clinical Psychology in 1983. He was employed by Avonworth School District for over 30 years as the School Psychologist, where he advocated tirelessly for the equal education of children with emotional, physical, and intellectual disabilities. He also maintained a private practice as a Clinical Psychologist. Throughout his years of service, Steve touched the lives of thousands of students and families throughout Avonworth, Allegheny County and beyond.
A gifted storyteller, Steve would spend hours entertaining family and friends with anecdotes that would leave his audience with both laughter as well as with interesting facts that they may not have otherwise known. His smile was contagious and his laugh infectious. Steve’s favorite past times were fishing, traveling, and reading. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. His life was well lived with no regrets and on his own terms.
He is preceded in death by his parents Dr. Michael and Erica Strasser, his brother Paul Strasser, and Paul’s wife Rosalia. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, his children Stephen G. Strasser, Emily Sadiq (Ghazanfer), Sarah Harris; his grandchildren Hana and Kasim Sadiq; and his siblings Christopher Strasser (Mary), Michael Strasser, Dr. Mary Elizabeth Strasser (Carlos), Peter Strasser (Cassandra) and Dr. Thomas Strasser.
