Velma J. Birch

Velma J. Birch, age 96 of Avalon passed away on Monday, February 19, 2024 at home surrounded by family. She was born on January 5, 1928 and was the daughter of the late Albert and Irene Duffy. 

Survived by her daughter, Debbie (Wayne) Ritchart; grandmother of, Christine (Dave) Palermo, Jessica Birch, Kevin (Carolyn) Ritchart, and Doug (Stacy) Ritchart; great-grandmother of, Sarah Palermo, Joey Ritchart, Ella Ritchart and Aiden Ritchart; and survived by many family and friends. 

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Birch; son, Mark Birch; and her siblings, Albert, Minnie, Robert, and Irene Brown.

Velma was the youngest of five children and lived the longest. She had a fun, feisty personality and she would always let you know where you stood. Velma enjoyed drinking wine and everyone have a toast of wine in memory of Velma. 

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 2:00pm to 7:00pm at the McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, 529 California Ave., Avalon, PA 15202. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024 at 11:00am in the McDonald-Linn Funeral Home.
