William Egan Obituary

William John Egan (Bill, Mr. Bill, Uncle Billy) born October 12, 1940 in Pittsburgh, PA went to his Heavenly home in the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, December 10, 2022.

There, free of cancer and pain, he was reunited with his precious family, devoted parents, Mary and Michael Egan; caring sisters, Frances, Madeline [“welcome home Willielumkin”] (Daniel) Shaw; Mary (Raymond) Taufkirch; dear brother Thomas; and loving in-laws, John and Jennett Warne.

Bill was also welcomed in Heaven by his and Carol’s beloved pastor, Bob Downs, who married them on October 19, 1974, in their dear Emsworth U.P. Church. He and his wife Joan became very special and cherished friends.

He leaves behind to treasure his memory his very dear sister, Sister Nora, and the love of his life, best friend and wife, Carol Warne Egan, many close cousins (here and abroad), nieces, nephews and friends including his feline friends, Molly and Seamus.

Bill served his country as a Medical Supply Specialist at the Ireland Army Hospital in Kentucky from 1965 to 1969. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal prior to his honorable discharge.

He worked as a trimmer for Rayco in the South Hills for many years before opening his own shop, Egan’s Auto Trim, in Emsworth.

Bill’s family would like to thank all the wonderful doctors and medical personnel who helped him with his many health problems over the years, particularly, Dr. John A. Straka and his team who with TLC treated him for over 30 years since his first diagnosis of cancer in 1988; and, most recently, AHN Hospice for their care in the last days of his life here on earth. They were indeed a real blessing.

Family and friends will be welcomed at McDonald-Linn Funeral Home, 529 California Ave., Avalon, PA 15202) from 4-7pm on Thursday, December 15, 2022.
