William E. “Bill”

Age 92 of Sewickley, was born on March 16, 1928 in New Castle, Pa. He went to be with the Lord on April 9, 2020 after a short illness, joining his loving wife Marge. Bill was a resident at the Masonic Village at Sewickley for the last sixteen years, after first residing in Avalon and Franklin Park. He was a graduate of both Johns Hopkins University and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. Bill served his country in the Korean War. He had a distinguished thirty two year career at Mellon Bank, where he retired as a Vice President in Credit Card Services. In retirement, Bill drove a school bus for the North Allegheny School District, and volunteered over 3700 hours at North Hills Passavant Hospital. Throughout his life, he was focused on serving others and contributing to the community in various capacities. Bill had a life long love of music, and was very active in his church’s music ministry, serving as a church organist and singing in the choir.

William is survived by his Sons: Lee E. Nelson, Mark E. (Lucianne) Nelson and Alan S. (Jeanne) Nelson.

Also survived by his Grandchildren: Carol (Benjamin) Richert, Ross Edward (Brooke), Julie, Brittany, Emily, and Hailey and one great-grandson Logan.

The family is suggesting that donations be made to the Masonic Village Employee Disaster Fund (1000 Masonic Drive; Sewickley, Pa. 15143), or to the Passavant Hospital Foundation (9100 Babcock Blvd; Pittsburgh, Pa. 15237).

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
