William Scherle Obituary

William “Bill” Harry Scherle, age 81 passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024. He was born on April 12, 1942 and was the son of the late William Valentine and Helen Rose (Gawinski) Scherle. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Frances “Frannie” (Butler) Scherle; loving daughters, Laurie (Robert) Kaib and Amy (Sergio) Posterivo; four grandchildren, Mallorie (Don) Longo, William Kaib, Madison and Natalie Posterivo; two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Norah Longo; sister, Patricia (Frank) Jankowski; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. 

Bill was a devoted Catholic as a member of Assumption Church, Regina Coeli Parish. He grew up in Millvale and graduated from North Catholic High School (1960). Bill had a long and successful career in the Steel Industry working with Wean United, Tippins Inc., and eventually retired from SMS Demag. He was fortunate to travel the world. He was a proud member, of “The Camera People”, along side the love of his life. He could be found behind the camera, in almost everything he did, sporting events, family functions or family dinners. He was the biggest fan and supporter of his family all their life endeavors. He was very loved and will be greatly missed by many.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Frannie and Bill Scherle on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Assumption Church, Regina Coeli Parish. 45 N Sprague Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15202.
